This piece attempts to bridge a divide that exists between improvisation and notated music. All the performers will at times need to listen to each other in order to engage in collective improvisation. The influences that the composer has orientated this work upon are the indiginous musics of North India, Afghanistan and Crete, as well as the notated works of Lutoslawski, Debussy and Glass. Space is important for many parts of this piece. It is necessary for all the players to be conscious of the soloist, as of well as each other, throughout.
