"Gemini" explores the vulnerable act of turning yourself inside out, showcasing your inner world for all the world to see. Gemini was originally composed for jazz trio (piano, bass, drums), but here is reshaped for the Stanford Laptop Orchestra.
The pianist plays an original melody at the start and end of the piece. Each other player plays an instrument or object they brought in from home and improvises, samples themselves, and controls how the sample is looped in playback. They also turn on and off a dedicated lamp in variously synchronized or uncoordinated fashion.
