Yue Song is a Chinese composer and pianist currently based in Dublin, Ireland, she is undertaking her PhD in Music Composition at TU-Dublin. She is a member of the Irish Composers Collective (ICC).

She began to learn piano in 1997, and in 2007, started to learn music theory and composition.

From 2009 - 2014 she undertook BA Degree studies in Composition at China Conservatory of Music with Professor Wanchuen Shi, in Beijing, China. Following this, she began master’s degree studies in composition at Central Conservatory of Music with Professor Binyang Li in Beijing, China, from 2014 - 2017. In 2018, she came to Ireland to commence PhD studies under Professor Gráinne Mulvey in TU Dublin Conservatory of Music and Drama.

She originally comes from a classical music background, and she is interested in a lot of different styles of music and artforms, especially theater and literature - for this reason she’s always been particularly interested in opera and likes to write her own librettos.

She has composed works in various genres, such as opera, orchestra, Chinese orchestra, various combinations of ensembles, solo pieces, and electronic music, and her pieces are performed in various music festivals such as New Music Dublin Festival, Femfestival (Italy), Perform_Live Festival and so on.
