As a violinist working in the classical music scene of Bucharest, Romania, Iulia-Andreea Smeu’s artistic practice extends into the contemporary arts, especially in the area of improvisation and multidisciplinary projects. In developing her approach to new artistic forms of expression, the encounter with figures such as composers Alvin Curran, Helmuth Oehring, or the Wisp Kollektiv has been inspiring.
Lately, her interest in technology-augmented performance crystalized into reality in local performances involving working with sensors, 3D immersive soundscapes, and human – computer interaction.
