Nicolas Brochec is a french composer and computer music designer. His main music focus area is the relationship between real-time sound analysis from instrumental material and real-time sound processing. He graduated both a Master of Research in Musicology at Paris 8 University with Alain Bonardi as research director and a Master of Music Composition at Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg. During his masters, he has developed research works about real-time analysis for real-time treatments with the use of machine learning processes.
As a composer, he has learned from well-known composers Philippe Manoury, Luca Francesconi, Philippe Hurel, José Manuel Lopez Lopez, Martin Matalon, Daniel D'Adamo and Franck Bedrossian. He has collaborated with the ensembles Sillages (FR), Linea (FR), Ars Nova (FR), Neue Vocalsolisten (DE), United Instruments of Lucilin (LU), Barcelona Modern Ensemble (ES), Ensemble 2e2m (FR), Ensemble for New Music Tallinn (EE) and Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble (PT). His music has been played in festivals like Musica (FR), Rainy Days (LU), JIM (FR), Sample Series (ES), and CrossRoads Festival (AU).
His music has been awarded, two times from the New Music Generation competition (KZ), for his vocal work Bruisé (2nd prize, 2019), and for his ensemble work VIKA (1rst prize, 2020). In 2021, he has the honor to receive the 1rst prize of the 10th edition of Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble Composition Competition (PT) for his work the eye.
