The objective of the Francisco Escudero Competition is to encourage the creation of works for solo accordion and chamber music with a maximum of 4 performers. It is open to participants of all ages and nationalities, but on the following conditions: first, that the compositions entered for the competition will have a maximum duration of 10 minutes; second, that they have been written after January 2020; and finally, that the works presented may have been commissioned and have been released both in person and digitally, but previously awarded works will not be admitted.

The winning work will be announced at the Awards Gala that will take place on October 13 at the Teatro Modelo in Zarautz. The score will be published by the organization, premiered at the Gala of the next edition of the Contest, and the composer will receive an economic allowance of €2,000.

There is also a modality for Pedagogical Works. The works presented can be for any instrumental group with or without accordion, with the conditions that they are aimed at students between the ages of 6 and 18 and their objectives are purely didactic.

The winning composer will receive a commission to write a new work for an accordion ensemble for the amount of €750, which will be premiered at the next edition of the Topakord Meeting for Young Accordionists, organized by Hauspoz.

Any composers interested in submitting to the Competition may do so through the online registration form, in which they must specify which modality they are applying for and attach PDF format copies of these 3 documents: the digital score or a scan of the manuscript, a brief biography and a photocopy of an official document proving the date of birth.
