The Piercing Gaze of a Submerged Creature

This work explores the instrument as a wellspring for nuanced percussive textures, utilising a range of preperations including a guiro, superball friction mallets, brushes, and metal rods. The instrument’s scale is used to elicit a “dance” from the performer, demanding swift, large-scale movements and full-body gestures, resulting in a dynamic, visually striking performance.
