Clouds

The piece was composed with the site-specific character of the premiere in mind, namely a seven-second reverberation in the KunstKulturKirche Frankfurt. One senses a sudden change in the sound field once inside of the church. The enormous reverberation created in me a feeling of otherness in time and space. This acoustic field is therefore an essential part of the work. The combination of it and the musical materials, as well as the nuances of the instruments' timbres, create clouds. They float, converge, rest, overlap, dissolve, with varying heights, weights, shades, shapes and textures.
