The images within Judith Wright's poem "To a child" are revelatory. Within this delicate retrospection, are images of winter, death and the sun, that consumes the world in a holy fire. Yet at the center of this work is the recounting of this vison to a child, a daughter.
This work is constructed from a motif found within Britten's second Canticle
"Abraham and Isaac." Both works are interlinked through their concern for a child, and the perspective that this lens captures the work.
