Biomaton

The piece was created starting from an environment made in Max/MSP that uses cellular automata to manipulate several parameters of different synthesis and sample manipolation techniques.

Each of the seven taxonomic kingdoms of life (Bacteria, Archaea, Protista, Chromista, Fungi, Plantae, Animalia, according to Cavalier-Smith model) is represented with a different sound generation model, with its parameters controlled according to the cellular automata framework.

The raw tracks obtained within Max/MSP have been further organized and manipulated, this time following mainly artistic and subjective considerations.
