After two critically acclaimed albums, the Lontano Quartet continues to be intensely committed to the defense of the repertoire and the exploration of contemporary creation.
The rediscovery of lesser-known works in concert and on record is at the heart of the approach that has united the four musicians since they first met. An ardent player on the new scene, the quartet actively defends today's creation through numerous collaborations, whether musical (contemporary, jazz...) or transdisciplinary, or through its commitment to composers through commissions and calls for compositions, and generating numerous dedicated works.
Following their studies at the Lyon and Paris Conservatoires and at other European conservatoires (Leipzig, Karlsruhe, Brussels, Zurich...), the members of the Lontano Quartet have continued to perfect their skills with musicians such as Miguel Da Silva (Quatuor Ysaÿe), Raphaël Merlin (Quatuor Ebène) and Jeanne-Marie Conquer (Ensemble Intercontemporain)...
In 2015, the Quartet founded the Musicales d'Assy festival (Haute-Savoie), where it is in residence every summer, and carries out a project centered on rich mediation actions. Since 2022, the Lontano Quartet has been an associate ensemble of the “Villa des Compositeurs” (Paris / Turin).
The Lontano Quartet is supported by Société Générale, the Igor Stravinsky Foundation and the Pierre Gianadda Foundation.
