Hamburg-based composer and pianist of Polish descent. Graduated in both composition and piano at the Fryderyk Chopin Music University in Warsaw. Furthermore, he was part of CoPeCo (Contemporary Performance and Composition), which is a master’s program focused on contemporary music, taking place each semester at a different European higher music education institution: in Tallinn, Estonia; Stockholm, Sweden; Lyon, France and Hamburg, Germany.

Ryszard Alzin composes for all kinds of acoustic ensembles, from solo instruments to orchestral and operatic music. He is highly interested in composing for unusual, historical and ethnic instruments. A distinctive feature of his compositions is a strict organization of the musical material, while maintaining a high emotional impact. He tends to combine different musical styles within a single piece. Another one of his main research fields is exploring innovative ways of combining music with text, which has resulted in the creation of various vocal-instrumental pieces.
Apart from concert music, Ryszard Alzin’s work includes composing for theatre as well as arrangements.
