Yixie Shen (b. 1993, CHN) is a composer based in Hamburg, Germany.
She is currently nominated for the Gaudeamus Award (2024) and the prizewinner of the Zwei Orgeln Plus of Musik 21 Niedersachsen (2024) as well as the Alexander International Music Award with the junge norddeutsche philharmonie (2023). She has received grants from akademie kontemporär (2021/2023) among others.
Her works have been performed by various orchestras, ensembles, soloists as well as at festivals in Germany, France, Spain, South Africa and China, including in the Elbphilharmonie, NDR Hamburg, by Symphoniker Hamburg, Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, junge norddeutsche philharmonie, Ensemble Ascolta, Ensemble Resonanz, IEMA Ensemble, Ensemble LUX:NM, Ensemble KNM Berlin, Hamburger Ratsmusik, at the Heinrich Schütz Music Festival and the Festival of Young Artists Bayreuth.
After receiving her bachelor degree in composition from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, she came to the class of Prof. Fredrik Schwenk at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg as an exchange student in 2018, where she is now completing her Konzertexamen Degree.
