Constanza Bizraelli (alias CAO) is a Peruvian electronic music composer and producer, new media artist and theorist, currently based in Amsterdam. She directs and edits the academic open access journal “Cyclops”, a publication dedicated to contemporary and experimental theory.
Her debut album “Marginal Virgin” was released in 2016 on Opal Tapes (UK) and she has recently released her latest EP titled “Flesh Luminescence” via Club Chai (US).
The name “Cao” is originally from the archeological site of the pyramids of Cao in Peru, home of an ancestral civilisation where a mummy was unearthed of a young empress- priestess. Elements from ancient Peruvian visual cultures and cosmologies have profoundly influenced CAO’s sound.
Constanza was included in Remezcla’s 2016 top 10 most promising electronic artists and was a participant of 2016 Red Bull Music Academy in Montreal. Her work has been showed in many festivals and exhibitions across Europe, North & South America such as Sonar Reykjavik (Iceland), Rewire Festival (NL), Berghain (DE), Tate Modern (UK), Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (US), Mutek Montreal (CA), Museum of contemporary Art of Montreal (CA), Martin Groupius-Bau Museum (DE), Fonoteca Nacional de Ciudad de Mexico (MEX), Grey Area Festival (US), Dekmantel Festival (NL), Folkestone Fringe (UK), Fiber Festival (NL) and more.
