Masahiro Aogaki (b.1991) is a Japanese composer based in Paris. He studied composition at Tokyo University of the Arts, where he received his Master’s degree in 2017 in the class of Ichiro Nodaira, and at the Paris Conservatory (CNSMDP) with Stefano Gervasoni, Luis Naón, Yan Maresz, Grégoire Lorieux, Yann Geslin and Oriol Saladrigues, where he received his Master’s degree with the top of the class unanimously by the jury in 2022.
In his recent compositional process, he is interested both in redefining instrumental, vocal or textual identities and in recontextualising pre-existing musical languages. His works have been performed by various ensembles, such as: Orchestre de Picardie, Orchestre de Caen, Geidai Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Court-Circuit, Ensemble Muromachi, Ensemble Next, Collettivo_21, and Duo Jeux d’Anches, among others.
He participated in various master classes and received teachings from Tristan Murail, Allain Gaussin, Philippe Manoury, Jean-Luc Hervé, Marco Momi, Jaime Reis, Joji Yuasa, Hiroyuki Ito et Misato Mochizuki.
He has received scholarships from the Meiji Yasuda Cultural Fondation, the Nomura Fondation, the Overseas Study Program for Upcoming Artists provided by the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan, the Kakehashi Fondation and the Centre International Nadia et Lili Boulanger.
In 2022-23, he participate in the Cursus Program on Composition and Computer music at IRCAM.
