About
Adrian Laugsch (*1997 in Cologne) is a polish-german composer and performer. He had his first composition lessons with Dr. Lydia Weißgerber. Since 2014 he has been studying with Prof. Martin Schüttler at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. Additionally he has participated in master courses and workshops with Jennifer Walshe, Johannes Kreidler, Stefan Prins, Jaime Reis, François Sarhan, Annette Schlünz, Frédéric Durieux and Markus Stockhausen.
He is interested, among other things, in historical and (auto)biographical material and its confrontation with digital, multi-media and theatrical strategies through which he approaches the issue of the performers' function. Those functions increasingly go beyond conventional music-making and question the possibility of intimacy as well as the borders between private and public matter.
His works have been performed by renowned ensembles such as Ensemble Courage, Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, Sinfonietta Dresden, Camerata Zürich, Glasgow New Music Expedition, Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie and Max Brand Ensemble Wien. For his works Adrian has been awarded with many national and international prizes and scholarships. Amongst others, he won the 1st prize at the composition competition Osnabrück/Germany, the 2nd prize at the international Gustav Mahler composition competition Klagenfurt/Austria and the Berio composition prize Wroclaw/Poland.
Furthermore Adrian collaborated with the Palucca University of Dance, the Dresden Frauenkirche, European Centre for the Arts Hellerau, SoundThought Festival Glasgow, Kyiv Contemporary Music Days, Dias de Musica Electroacustica Portugal, Kyung Hee Composition Festival Seoul and IMPULS Festival.
