Support for Ukrainian Artists Initiatives

The ULYSSES Network would like to express its complete solidarity with all the citizens of the Ukraine during these tragic days. As a network dedicated to the support of young emerging artists (composers, instrumentalists and conductors), we will follow the situation closely and do our best to support young Ukrainian talents in this difficult moment, as well as young artists from any nationality who are affected by the war.

Here below are listed initiatives and opportunities announced by the ULYSSES Network partners or other organizations who offer support for those affected by the war.

ULYSSES Network partner Gaudeamus wants to use their social media platforms and international reach to give space to composers and musicians who feel personally connected to Ukraine and the war. You can send a personal video (or written) statement to Gaudeamus and they will share these statements via their Facebook and Instagram channels. See more from the link.

Curious Ears LIVE: Celebrating Ukrainian music. Since Corona time, Gaudeamus has had its own podcast series: Curious Ears. A podcast with musicians and composers from different backgrounds, from different cultures, who introduce the experience of the music from their culture in a personal, intimate way. During this live edition of Curious Ears, Jonás Bisquert hosts three ‘podcasts’ on the spot with three musicians: singer Maryana Golovchenko (currently working on a regular episode of Curious Ears about Ukrainian polyphony), pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi and pianist and soprano Kateryna Ziabliuk.

Report from a joint web talk organized by Initiative Neue Musik Berlin / field notes and Kyiv Contemporary Music Days.

Platform 1\ 5 was created by young enterprising musicians to promote classical music and discuss it more.

1\ 5 also publishes accessible texts about musical events in Ukraine on our social pages and collaborates with the music media "The Claquers" and the festival of contemporary music "Contrasts".

Even though the organising team was split up after February 24, 2022, of Platform 1\ 5 still focuses on holding concerts with musicians, who temporarily moved to Lviv.

In short, the platform organises concerts for young and older musicians seeking a non-standard approach to performance; and seeks to popularise academic music through social networks and public discussions. If you would like to take part or know more, contact Roksolana Kit: kitroksolanka@gmail.com

We will update this list of support activities regularly. If you wish to announce your support, please send mail to community.ulysses(at)gmail.com.
