The commitment to new symphonic creations and to the new generation of composers is a strategic objective of the Real Filharmonía de Galicia, an entity administratively managed by the Consortium of Santiago de Compostela.
This initiative was born as a stimulus for composers who are beginning their creative careers in the field of music.
In the 2024-25 season, the Real Filharmonía de Galicia, in collaboration with the Festival Resis de Música Contemporánea de A Coruña (within the RESIS.LAB project), will organize a workshop reading new symphonic works, with the aim of rehearsing the selected compositions contributed by the participants. An evaluation commission formed by professionals in the field will select a maximum of 5 works from among all those received. At the end of the rehearsal days of these works, a final concert open to the public will be held, and a non-commercial recording will be made of these selected works.
All these activities will be carried out in person on May 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, 2025 at the Auditorio de Galicia (Santiago de Compostela, Spain).
Given the formative nature of these workshops, the physical presence in Santiago de Compostela is required of the selected composers, who must confirm their attendance upon their selection.
The workshop will be guided by composer José María Sánchez-Verdú and conductor Jordi Francés.
All participants in these workshops authorize that the rehearsals and concerts will be recorded in video and/or audio by the RFG for promotional purposes only.
At the end of these workshops, each candidate will receive an audio and video recording of his/her work, which will be used exclusively for promotional and non-commercial purposes.
