Projecto DME is pleased to announce a call for music integrated in the event ‘Culture and Sustainability’, that will take place in November 22th to 24th, 2024, at Lisboa Incomum (Lisbon, Portugal).

‘Culture and Sustainability’ is co-organised annually by Projecto DME at Lisboa Incomum. With seven editions since 2017, its aim is to foster an interdisciplinary discussion (artistic, scientific, political) on the roles that artistic practices can play in raising environmental awareness, intervening in the discussion on topics such as sustainability and ecology. This discussion takes place between the public and the event's guests through different types of activities such as conferences, concerts and workshops.

The selected works will be presented in a listening room open to the public during the event. Besides the listening room, ‘Culture and Sustainability’ will feature concerts, conferences and workshops.

This call is open to composers of all ages and nationalities.

There is no submission fee.

We seek to provide a platform for debate and presentation of electroacoustic music that relates to the following categories:

cat. 1 - soundscape and acoustic ecology;

cat. 2 - endangered species;

cat. 3 - environmental activism in art.

The music proposals should fit the following characteristics:

•⁠ ⁠Acousmatic music pieces with a max. duration of 10 minutes;

•⁠ ⁠⁠Up to 16 channels (for more info about our system, please refer to Layout Dome sound Wood Room- Lisboa Incomum;

•⁠ ⁠⁠Audio in .AIF or .WAV formats;

•⁠ ⁠⁠It is possible to send pieces with a video component;

•⁠ ⁠⁠Only one piece per each category will be admitted, allowing a max. of 3 works per candidate, if in different categories.
