Fractales, founded in 2012 and based in Brussels, is an ensemble born from the desire to promote and explore new repertoires. Specialised in performing contemporary chamber music without a conductor, Fractales plays a large variety of new music to create exciting programs, performing with a communicative energy and passion for the music of the 20th and 21st century.
Fractales also plays an active role in the contemporary avant-garde, commissioning new pieces and supporting young composers with his program BE Connect . Fractales has performed in many famous festivals such as La Biennale di Venezia, ArsMusica, reMusik, Darmstadt Summer Course, Afekt, Nuova Consonanza, De Link Nieuwe Muziek, and at venues in Belgium, Estonia, Latvia, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Switzerland and UK.
Fractales was awarded twice the "Just Composed!" prize by Vienna University and is the residency ensemble of the ISA contemporary masterclass since 2018. Fractales has won the Willem Twee prize in 2017, the Vocatio Foundation Prize, and was in the official selection for festival ProPulse 2018.
Fractales is supported and recognized by the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
