About
Carmen Salguero Indias is a versatile musician and researcher who has pursued an extensive and
varied educational journey. After completing her professional music degree under the tutelage of
Rafael Gómez at the Conservatory of Salamanca, she furthered her bachelor's studies in Badajoz with
V . Contador. Alongside her musical training, Carmen also pursued a bachelor’s degree and several
master’s degrees in philosophy, showcasing her dedication to both music and intellectual growth.
In 2020, Carmen obtained her degree in musical interpretation (saxophone and contemporary music) and
pedagogy at PESMD Bordeaux Nouvelle-Aquitaine, where she studied under the guidance of Marie-Bernardette Charrier and Hilomi Sakaguchi. Her passion for music extended beyond formal
degrees, as she attended numerous courses, seminars, and masterclasses in saxophone and chamber
music with prestigious professors such as J.M Lodeix, D. Kientzy, A. Bornkamp, P.S.Meugé, D.Carretero,P. Stadler, among others.
Her academic curiosity and creative drive led her to explore the philosophy of music, conducting
significant research projects, including collaboration with composer Mauricio Sotelo. These efforts
highlight her commitment to integrating philosophy with music, a rare intersection that enriches her
artistic practice.
In addition to her academic and performance endeavors, she has been deeply involved in developing
artistic projects like the premiere of Hondo (2021) by Aragonese guitarist Rubén Jiménez at the
Auditorium of Zaragoza. Also, in 2022, she premiered her show Serpentine Dance in Glasgow and
presented a cycle of 12 pieces for solo saxophone by composer and pianist Daahoud Salim in
Zaragoza. In 2023, Carmen participated in the Saxophone Studio at the Darmstadt Festival, further
expanding her knowledge and network within the contemporary music scene. Additionally, she
presented in 2023 a solo project at the World Saxophone Congress in G. Canaria. In 2024, she joined
the Vinculos project by dancer Fuensanta la Moneta at the Granada Flamenco Biennial.
Currently, Carmen Salguero is pursuing a Master’s program in Performance Studies at the Musik Akademie in Basel under the tutelage of Marcus Weiss.
