Camila Nebbia is a sax player, composer, improviser, multidisciplinary artist and activist from Buenos Aires, Argentina based in Stockholm, Sweden. Her artistic practice and work reflect the constant creation of new sounds and visual landscapes, exploring the relationship between different forms of composition, free improvisation and mix media. Studied classical saxophone at the Conservatory "Astor Piazzolla", jazz at the "Manuel de Falla" Conservatory and Film Direction at the Universidad Del Cine. At the present time is studying the master degree program “CoPeCo Contemporary Performance and Composition. The two-year program occurs each semester in a different institution: Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Estonia, Royal College of Music in Stockholm in Sweden, National Superior Conservatory of Music Dance of Lyon in France and Hamburg University of Music and Theatre in Germany, won the Erasmus grant to support her studies. In 2015 won a scholarship from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes (FNA) to assist to a workshop about composition and improvisation in Bariloche, Argentina. In 2017 participated in three different residencies and concerts with: Tim Berne, Marilyn Crispell and Ben Goldberg. Participated of the “SIM” workshop directed by Ralph Alessi in New York. In 2018 won together with the band “El devenir del rio” an FNA grant to compose music for their new album. In 2019 Won the grant “Raúl Urtazún & Frances Harley” to assist to the prestigious workshop of Jazz and Creative music at Banff Centre, Canada. Won the FNA “creation grant” to create new work and research about gender violence in Argentina. In 2020 participates of a tribute to the great argentine composer Gerardo Gandini at the “Centro de Experimentación of the Teatro Colón”. Participates in the online workshop “Ensemble Evolution” dictated by the International Contemporary Ensemble, hosted by the New School of Performing Arts of New York. In 2021 Was invited to participate of the second cohort of Mutual Mentorship for Musicians M3 created by Jen Shyu, Sara Serpa & Jordannah Elisabeth 2021. Co-creator and curator of the collective interdisciplinary group and improvised series “La Jaula se ha vuelto pájaro y se ha volado” and the concert series “guillotina fest” and the collective organization EWTA (Empowering womxn through the arts), and creator and curator of the streaming concert series called “The warmth of proximity” that includes womxn improvisers and experimental performers from different parts of the world, and that was premiered by the Experimental Sound Studio of Chicago. Played and collaborated with many different artistic projects in Buenos Aires and international scene such as La Big Nant, Axel Filip Sextet, Gandini band, El devenir del río, Burka, Maya Keren, Paula Shocron, Barbara Togander, Patrick Shiroishi, Paul Pignon, Christer Bothén, Vinnie Sperazza, Nicola Hein, Kenneth Jimenez, Lesley Mok, Violeta García, Julian Mekler sextet, Susana Santos Silva, Elsa Bergman, Hara Alonso, among others. Has relesead as a band leader “A veces la luz de lo que existe resplandece solamente a la distancia” (Kuai 2017), “De este lado” (Club del disco 2019), Aura (ears&eyes records 2020),“Corre el río de la memoria” will be released by ramble records July 2021 and “Presencias” a solo record that will be released by the label Sound Holes 2021.
