Leandro Cardoso is a Brazilian born conductor living in the United States. He is the Assistant Conductor of the Kansas University Symphony Orchestra, works as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, and also pursues the Master's Degree in Music under the tutelage of Dr. Carolyn Watson.

He is the founder and titular conductor of the Athos Chamber Orchestra and also develops a solid work as an arranger. Maestro Cardoso, previously studied with the renowned Brazilian Conductor Marcos Arakaki, and with the professors Lincoln Andrade, Arnon Oliveira, and Iara Fricke Matte in the Orchestral Direction Course at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG).

He began his musical life at the age of 10 with Maestro Edgard Andrade at the Colegio Militar de Belo Horizonte. At the age of 14, he joined the Music Education course at the Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais. At 17, he enrolled in a bachelor's degree in music (trumpet habilitation) at the UFMG. There he graduated and acted as the Principal Trumpet of the Symphonic Orchestra of UFMG for two years, playing under the baton of renowned maestros such as Silvio Viegas, Charles Roussin, Dwight Satterwhite, Dario Sotelo, and Roberto Farias. In 2008 he joined the Minas Gerais Military Police Symphony Orchestra, acting as an assistant trumpet and guest conductor. He performed as a guest trumpeter with the Symphonic Orchestras of Minas Gerais and the Ouro Preto Orchestra.

Always seeking to improve himself, he has been doing courses and workshops in orchestral direction with famous maestros of the Brazilian and international music scene, such as Fábio Mechetti, Roberto Tibiriçá, Marcos Arakaki, Charles Roussin, Luis Clemente, Roberto Fiori, and Linus Lerner.
