CARMEN FIZZAROTTI (Bari, 1992) graduated in Piano (2014) and in Chamber Music (2016) with full marks and honors with a research thesis on Ligeti’s Trio for violin, horn and piano at Conservatorio “N. Piccinni” in Bari (Italy). She studies Composition with Alessandro Solbiati at Conservatorio “G. Verdi” in Milan.
In 2018 in Bari (Italy) she founded with the conductor Roberta Peroni the Six Memos Ensemble, focused on the performance of Modern and Contemporary Music.
She held the position of Assistant of the coordinator Alessandro Solbiati for the specialization course in Composition “Master di II Livello in Composizione” at Conservatorio “G. Verdi” in Milano with the guest composers Ivan Fedele, José Manuel Lopez Lopez, Michael Jarrell, Toshio Hosokawa, Beat Furrer, academic year 2018/2019, and for the a.y. 2020/2021 with the guest composers Klaus Lang, Marco Stroppa, George Benjamin, Unusk Chin, Alberto Posadas. This position allowed her to work with the composers, with the Institution, with the ensemble in residence and with the students, managing all the activities of the course.
She debuted with the European Union Youth Orchestra, Laura Marzadori soloist violin, with the world premiere of Floating Autumn in “The Uncertain Four Seasons” world project, at the Basilica del Santissimo Redentore in Venice (2021).
Her works are published by Edizioni Sconfinarte and UCLA (University of California) Music Library and broadcast on RAI Radio3.
She attended Composition Masterclass by Brian Ferneyhough, Ivan Fedele, Stefano Gervasoni, Diana Rotaru, Francesco Antonioni, Marco Stroppa, Composition Workshops by Alessandro Solbiati at "Fondazione Campus Internazionale di Musica" (Sermoneta, June/July 2017 and 2018) and at "Festival di Bellagio e del Lago di Como" (Bellagio, October 2017). She has been chosen for the artistic residency by Fondazione Rocca dei Bentivoglio during which she composed a new piece for cello solo for Francesco Dillon.
With the quintet Slow futures, she won the First Place in the Ensemble Ibis’ Composition Competition at the Frost School of Music – University of Miami (2021). Her Terminal Hurt/Terminal Longing (Kentridge’s Tree) has been selected as winner of the NODUS 2018 Fall Call for scores and performed in the NODUS 2018 Fall Concert Series, at FIU (Florida International University) Miami Beach Urban Studios (Miami, December 2018). Her Luminous Breath for flute and piano (Edizioni Sconfinarte) resulted among winners of Interensemble's Call for Scores and perfomed in the Festival "A Minimal View - Music and Arts" (Padova, June 2017).
Her works made it to final rounds of ICEBERG New Music Call for Scores (ICEBERG New Music – New York City) and Musica Prospettiva 2019-20 – International Call for Scores (Comune di Torrita di Siena, Fondazione Torrita Cultura e Pro Loco Torrita).

Suonando si sposta lentamente e orizzontalmente ed il flauto emette colori e fumi d’incenso... ». Suggestive immagini, da assorbire alla velocità della luce, perché durano lo spazio di un breve sospiro, come enunciato dal titolo. Ne è autrice una giovane barese appena ventisettenne [...]. Il suo nome è già apparso i parecchi festival, anche stranieri. Esemplare biglietto da visita è questa sua stringatissima performance, tanto che verrebbe quasi da paragonarla all’effetto delll’o di Giotto.”
