Uitgast Festival and Ensemble Black Pencil announce an international call for compositions for the unique instrumentation of the ensemble:

recorder, panflute, viola, accordion and percussion, inspired by the theme of 'Music and Nature'.

Submitted works must make use of the full set-up of the ensemble. The inclusion of (live) electronics is possible.The length of the work should be about 3 minutes.

The winning composition will receive a monetary prize of €1.500, and, in addition, two honorary mentions will be awarded. The submissions are evaluated by a professional jury on the basis of creativity, innovation, sound color and compositional quality.

The winning composition will be performed live during Uitgast Festival at Natuurpark Lelystad (The Netherlands) on 04 September 2022. The live performance will be followed by a professional recording.

Deadline for submissions: 01 August 2022.

There is no age limit and no application fee. The competition is open to composers of all nationalities. Any composer is welcome to submit more than one composition.
