The 6th edition of the Competition is dedicated to the memory of Krzysztof Penderecki
̶ the great Composer and benefactor of the Orchestra; and the function of the Honorary
Chairwoman of the Competition’s Jury is held by Mrs. Elżbieta Penderecka.
The competition is aimed to promote young composers and to broaden the repertoire for string orchestra. Entry into the Competition is open to all composers under 40 years of age.
The subject of the Competition is an original piece entitled Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta: Hommage à Krzysztof Penderecki for a string orchestra and percussion (max. ensemble formation: 6-5-4-4-1 / perc. 3). Duration of the piece must be from 7 to 12 minutes.
The submitted composition must be an original composition that has not been yet performed, awarded or published.
The Competition’s Prize consists of a premiere performance of the winning composition Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta: Hommage à Krzysztof Penderecki during the Sinfonietta Festival in Krakow, including its professional audio-video recording and other performances of the piece during the 2020/2021 concert season. Due to pandemic of the coronavirus the Organizer reserves the right to change the form of the Competition’s Prize.
