On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the Civic Music School of the
Municipality of Nuoro, and of the 150th anniversary of writer Grazia Deledda’s birth - born in
Nuoro and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1926 - the Civic School of Music
announces the first Musical Composition Competition “Grazia Deledda”.
The competition is divided into five sections:
sec. A: Choral music (Choir with 4 mixed voices from 4 (SATB) to 8 (SSAATTBB) maximum.
The composition is intended for a good amateur choir.
sec. B: Modern music: pop-rock formation: vocals, 1 or 2 guitars, bass, keyboards and drums
(a minimum of three elements must be used among those indicated).
sec. C: Contemporary music (Violin, Cello, Flute, Clarinet, Piano and Vibraphone).
sec. D: Chamber orchestra (4 first violins, 4 second violins, 2 violas, 2 cellos, double bass,
flute, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns and piano).
sec. E: Popular music (diatonic accordion, percussion, guitar and vocals).
For sections C, D and E, the specified instrumentation may also be used partially.
The competition is reserved for composers who have not reached the age of thirty-five at the
date of publication of this announcement.
