The objective of this competition is to stimulate the creation of new pieces by young composers from all over the world. The Ensemble Écoute is strongly engaged in the interpretation and promotion of new compositions by young creators which are included in every season.

This competition is open to composers of all nationalities, born after January 1, 1985. The prize-winning composer will receive 1200 euros to write a new piece of about 10/12 minutes for 6 to 8 musicians (instrumentation to be confirmed).

The new piece will be performed in the last concert of the 2020 season of the Ensemble Écoute in Paris.

The new composition must be original and personal and must be sent to Ensemble Écoute no later than September 15th 2020.

The jury will be composed by composers Alessandro Solbiati (president of the jury), Bernard Cavanna and the artistic directors of the Ensemble Ecoute, Fernando Palomeque and Tomás Bordalejo. The candidate will have to send TWO works for an ensemble of 5 to 14 instruments of free duration and instrumentation. The pieces must be written after 2015.

For the third edition of this competition, the jury awarded the prize to Charles Peck among 57 candidates, who composed the piece "Tether" which was premiered on 28 October 2018 at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
