European Creative Academy for Music and Musicians

Opportunities
The 2022 edition offers young composers the following opportunities:
- Workshopping a 5 to 7 minutes piece for an ensemble of up to 11 instruments specially written for this
summer academy and for the musicians of Ensemble Ars Nova (see instrumentation proposed in the form)
→ The piece must be a new work written especially for this summer academy.
→ Please indicate your choice of instrumentation in the form. The jury will try to respect them.
- Asking and experimenting with experienced musicians.
- Testing existing sketches and/or ideas with musicians of choice.
- Masterclass and private lessons with Stefano Gervasoni
- Working with young conductors selected for this edition of ECA, under the supervision of Gregory Vajda and Peter Eötvös
- Public concert at the end of the Academy
The compositional workshop will be ran in parallel with the conductor’s workshop.
Eligibility
- No Age Limit but priority will be given to composers at the start of their careers and/or undergoing training at a higher education institution
- Applicants from a variety of musical aesthetics and backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged to apply.
Fee
- Registration and tuition fees are fully covered by ECA for all participants.
- Lodging costs are fully covered by ECA for all participants.
- Travel costs are the cost of all participants.
Deadline
Application deadline May 1, 2022.
The results will be announced no later than the 2nd week of May 2022.
Participation Details
- Must write a short brand new work of maximum 7 minutes which will be workshopped by Ensemble Ars Nova.
- The new work will be viewed in private lessons with Stefano Gervasoni and during workshops given by the Ensemble Ars Nova.
- This new work will be rehearsed and conducted by selected young conductors of this edition of ECA, under the supervision of Gregory Vajda and Peter Eötvös.
- All candidates must choose 3 instrumentations that the jury will try to respect.
- Score and Parts must be ready by July 15, 2022 to ensure that the conductors and musicians have sufficient preparation time.
- Composers must attend all masterclasses and rehearsals.
- Composers will be entitled to professional development workshops during the academy that focus on career development and other aspects of what the job entails.
- All compositions will be performed in a final concert on Saturday August 20, 2022
