CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR A NEW PIECE FOR CELLIST: SÉVERINE BALLON
A COMPOSITION FOR CELLO AND ELECTRONICS
PURPOSE: SELECTION OF TWO SOUND ARTISTS FOR A CREATIVE RESIDENCY AT ART ZOYD STUDIOS
CONTEXT: After the call for projects "V.O. Voltage Overdrive" and "Symphony for the day when cities burn", this one is part of an approach that has been part of Art Zoyd Studios for several years, which aims at an extension of the acoustic or electronic instrument, in order to respond to new writing or to encourage it. This call also aims at an aesthetic opening towards new compositional approaches mixing acoustic and electronic. It also follows two projects with the composer and cellist Séverine Ballon, who was receptive to this approach.
CALL FOR SELECTION of two sound artists for the commission of a piece for a concert and/or a recording.
PURPOSE: creative residency with a view to a concert and/or recording
DURATION OF THE WORK: approximately 20 minutes
TARGET: musicians, composers, sound artists of all aesthetics, using electronics The purpose of the call is to compose a work with and for the musician (Séverine Ballon *) and not only for the instrument she plays, in research and sound experimentation, accompanied by the musician and our developer (RIM) Oudom Southammavong who will take care of the technical aspects.
A WAY TO IMAGINE THE CELLO IN ALL ITS FORMS
The score can take any form: traditional (solfeggio) score, graphics, instructional text, audio recording or other.
An amplified classical cello and/or an electric cello will be provided, which can be played using all techniques, playing modes, bows, added instruments... traditional, invented, reinvented.
Submission of applications: a Dropbox link will be provided from 10 January for submission of applications before 16 March 2022 at 12 noon, French time.
