Tianyang Zhang entered Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2013 and learned composition with Prof. YE Guohui. From October 2016 to July 2017, he had his one-year exchange in HfMT-Hamburg and studied with Prof. Fredrik Schwenk.
He has cooperated with many musicians including: Klangforum Wien, Nordharzer Städtebundtheater Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonie and Tana Quartet, Staatskapelle Halle, Darrell Ang, Concerto Budapest, Danubia Orchestra Obuda, Ensemble Contemporary-α. He got prizes with his compositions, performed in Shanghai, Hongkong, Germany, Ukraine, Austria, Belgium, Hungary and Japan. He got commissions from Shanghai New Music Week and Impuls-Festival für Neue Musik Sachsen-Anhalt. His main compositions include:
"Meteorite" for six instruments; "leisure supination" for Sheng and string quartet; "Roads" for Chinese traditional instrument ensemble; "Bronzeguß" for marimba solo; "Sì Xiàng" for orchestra; "An der Pranger/Pillory" for string quartet; "Charon" for violas, percussions and winds. "Landscape Painting Essay - Rocky Stream" for cello, flute, clarinet and piano.
