Jihyun Kim graduated from Seoul National University with BM as valedictorian, and earned MM in Composition. Later, she graduated with a MM from Indiana University, then obtained DMA from Rice University with the support of The Korean Government Scholarship. Her music have been performed at the festivals mainly in Korea and USA including the SCI Conference, John Donald Robb Composers’ Symposium, the Oregon Bach Festival, Brandeis Composers Conference and the Earshot Workshop. Also, she won the 2nd prizes in the American Prize both for the vocal and choral music division, then the 3rd prize for the instrumental music division. She also won Libby Larsen Prize in the IAWM Competition, and was nominated as a finalist for the Goethe Award in Asian Composers Showcase.
