Vox Novus is calling for one-minute pieces composed for soprano solo. Selected works will premiere in Fall/Winter of 2024 with Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame sopranos Annie Gill, Mary Hubbell, Keri Lee Pierson, and Jenny Ribeiro. Four performances will be presented as live streaming online concerts via Streamyard broadcast to multiple streaming platforms such as YouTube and Facebook.
This call for scores for Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame will be unique and different. The call is for a specific instrumentation and works will be performed by 4 different singers. Each soprano will perform their own set of 15 works that each chooses for herself. This will give opportunities for up to 60 different works to be selected. Composers may also submit up to 4 works for consideration. Composers will only be represented once in each set chosen for a soprano.
Only works one-minute in length will be considered.
This Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame is looking to strengthen and empower the contemporary opera community by creating one minute arias to highlight the soprano singer. Each soprano included in this project states what sort of works fit best with their style, aesthetic, and vocal abilities.
For this Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame, we are looking for works for a cappella soprano solo only. No electronics. No duets, trios, or quartets. Submitted works should be specifically written for the Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame project.
Guidelines:
-Deadline for works is June 30th, 2024
-Works are for sopranos solo only. (no electronics)
-No works over one minute (60 seconds) will be reviewed.
-Works should be composed specifically for this call and performer.
-All pieces must be premieres.
-Composers may submit up to 4 different works for consideration. Please note that no composer will be presented more than once in a single Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame set. (Composers may be selected for multiple sets.)
-Texts/libretto must be in public domain or with written permission from the author.
